Position: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
 
Magnolia Creek is a 27-hole links style course in League City consisting of large Tifeagle greens, Tifway 419 tees, fairways and rough, 139 bunkers and an expansive 14-acre practice facility.
 
This position will require a two or four year degree in turf management or like fields, a Texas Pesticide Applicator license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Also, a keen eye for detail, strong work ethic and the ability to effectively communicate to superiors and subordinates are very important to the success of Magnolia Creek. Experience is a plus but not a requirement. The roles of this person will include proper calibration and application of pesticides and fertilizers, scheduling, project planning, purchasing, budgeting, irrigation auditing and repairs and detailed record keeping among many other things.
 
Magnolia Creek is part of the growing Sequoia Golf/Canongate family that consists of seven other courses in Texas and into the 20’s now in the greater Atlanta Georgia area. There has been and will continue to be ample opportunity for advancement within this group. 
 
 
Compensation: $30-32K

Job Description:  Assist GC Superintendent in planning and scheduling of agronomic practices, crew supervision, irrigation work, fertilizer and pesticide applications. The Assistant Superintendent will also represent our GCM Department as a safety coordinator.  We are looking for a candidate that is hard working and will do whatever it takes to succeed.  Spanish speaking  is a plus.

 

Education:  Four-year bachelors degree or two-year certificate in turfgrass related field or equivalent required.
 

Experience:  3 - 5 years in Golf Course Maintenance; Minimum 1 year as an Asst. Superintendent or Technician at a high quality facility.

Job Description :
Responsible for assisting in the operation of the Golf Course Maintenance department. The responsibilities include: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, Member relations, scheduling/maintenance or irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
  • Assist Golf Course Superintendent in providing agronomic direction for the healthy growth of the golf course grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials.
  • Supervise the application and recording of chemical applications on the Club's grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Supervise the safe use and maintenance of the golf course mechanical equipment.
  • Interact with the Golf Professional to maximize the number of rounds of golf played, and to schedule maintenance practices around Member play and outings to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure that his staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions. Provide technical, operational and safety training for employees.
  • Maintain the golf course at the highest quality possible at all times. 
  • Fills in to perform all functions in routine Golf Course Maintenance activities as needed or as directed by Golf Course Superintendent.
WORK EXPERIENCE
3 - 5 years in Golf Course Maintenance;  Minimum 1 year as an Asst. Superintendent or Technician at a high quality facility. 

EDUCATION
Min 2-year College Degree in Turf Grass Management or related field.  BS preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
